Anna Maria Island added to SALT Series

Anna Maria Island serves as the first stop on the SALT Series

The Inaugural SALT Series will kick off on Anna Maria Island, FL February 15-16, 2020. As part of a six-event statewide Series and the only multi-destination Series in the State of Florida, the AMI Hogfish Swim will welcome open water swimmers vying to become the Inaugural High Point SALT Series Champion in their respective age groups.

Matt Dunn, Salty Sports Society Co-Founder, said Anna Maria Island and its many partners made it an ideal location to kickstart the year. “The Hogfish open water crew, Manatee County Ocean Rescue and Park and Recreation, Coquina Beach Café and many other partners made selecting Anna Maria Island a ‘no brainer’ for our event team. We’re looking for a long-term relationship with the Island authority and have a focus to give back to its Ocean Rescue effort,” Dunn said.

The event weekend is primed for fun with sessions planned for Saturday, February 15th to include training, race, and stretching. All registered swimmers will have an opportunity to put into action what they learned by participating in a training swim following the beach classroom-style sessions. For the Sunday races, the distances are set at 1.2 and 2.4 miles, specifically focused on triathletes. “The beach is perfectly designed for a 1.2-mile loop that will serve as a challenge to all registered swimmers. We pride ourselves on having an extremely robust water safety plan, developing full weekends that build the community of open water swimming and giving away fun prizes to all,” Dunn said.

The SALT Series is planned for the following destinations:

February 15-16, 2020 AMI Hogfish Swim Anna Maria Island, FL

April 21-23, 2020 Deluna’s Swim Pensacola, FL

June 2020 Siesta Key Swim Siesta Key, FL

September 10-12, 2020 Swim for Alligator Lighthouse Islamorada, FL

October 9-11, 2020 Swim PCB Panama City Beach, FL
